Congratulations to Trudy Mitchell, an E3 cleaner at John Hunter Hospital, who was recognised by the Hospital’s Staff Appreciation and Recognition (STAR) Award last week. The STAR highlights Trudy’s outstanding performance and commitment to her role.

Trudy was nominated by Nurse Unit Manager Andrew Martin, who was full of praise for her work.

“Trudy takes such pride in her work and is as valuable a member of our team as anyone else,” said Andrew.

In his nomination, Andrew praised Trudy’s drive and commitment.

“Trudy approaches her role with passion and pride, consistently going above and beyond to assist both the nursing staff and patients to ensure their environment is clean, tidy and safe at all times.

Trudy is fiercely protective of her unit and displays this by not being afraid to reinforce the standards and expectations of all staff in maintaining a tidy and safe workplace as well as maintaining infection prevention strategies.”

The first HealthShare NSW winner

The STAR award has been in place for five years, and Trudy is the first HealthShare NSW employee to win the award. The award was presented to Trudy by Andrew and JHH General Manager Leanne Johnson.

Sector Manager Thor Hugginson said the award ceremony was a truly special occasion, and stressed his pride in Trudy’s achievement.

“We are so proud of Trudy and the way she represents HealthShare NSW. Her commitment to ensuring a safe and clean environment for patients and staff is second to none.”

Andrew said Trudy was an example of how important our cleaners are to ensuring patient safety. Her latest cleaning audit result was 99%, demonstrating her dedication to her role and team.

“I feel Trudy is the example of how everyone within the team, regardless of position title, has a vital role in providing safe patient care.”

Thank you, Trudy, and congratulations again.
