Wee Waa staff going above and beyond

HealthShare NSW extends a huge thank you to our team members at Wee Waa, who went above and beyond during the recent floods to ensure our services could continue running.
When floodwaters hit the town of Wee Waa in October, many were stranded outside the town and unable to get to work. Fortunately for us, the HealthShare NSW team got creative in order to make sure they could continue to provide services to the patients and staff at Wee Waa Hospital.
One team member, Michelle, had to catch a boat for a couple of days to get across to work – and when the water came she got a lift in an SES truck! But that’s just one story…
A dedicated team pitches in
Team member Andrea wasn’t able to get home due to flood waters, so spent time sleeping in one of the empty wards. Her colleague Sandra was able to pre-emptively come into town from home and stay with family so she would still be able to come to work after the water rose. Those are just a few examples - every member of the team pitched in and made sacrifices to ensure our services could continue.
Operations Manager Amy Baddams was full of praise for the whole team, but particularly for acting Site Supervisor Angie.
“Thankfully, Angie lives in town, so she was acting Site Supervisor during this flooding,” said Amy. “She handled everything so well.”
Thank you to the entire team at Wee Waa for your support during a difficult time.
“These are amazing stories that show the dedication our teams give,” said Sector Manager Anne Buckley.
“This demonstration of support makes me so proud.”
