Meet Dylan Adams, a Senior Service Centre Officer for our EnableNSW business line. EnableNSW provides assistive technology and related services to people in NSW with specific, short term or ongoing health needs to assist them to live safely at home.

Recently, Dylan was contacted by a homeless person from a pay phone as he was in need of a repair for his broken wheelchair that had been provided through EnableNSW.

Dylan didn’t have a direct number to contact the homeless person from, however he noted the street he was calling from and using his problem-solving skills contacted a gym that was nearby and they were more than happy to act as a point of contact for the customer.

Shortly after this, Dylan organised a loan wheelchair from a nearby supplier to be delivered before having the broken wheelchair taken away for repairs.

The customer’s wheelchair was deemed irreparable, so EnableNSW provided him with a new one, for which he was extremely grateful. He now has a close relationship with the gym staff and uses their phone to contact the EnableNSW team.

“I just knew that I needed to help this man. He already finds himself in such an unfortunate situation and I wanted to do everything I could to help him. This is just who I am and also what we stand for as a team,” said Dylan.
