During this year’s Service Recognition Week, 83 System Service Delivery team members were celebrated across the directorate for reaching an important milestone in their journey with us.

One of them is Brunhilde Smith (Bonnie), who has been working in the public sector for 45 years!

Bonnie started her Health journey back in 1969, just one week after finishing high school. After completing her nursing training at Glen Innes District Hospital, she moved to Vegetable Creek Hospital and then did her midwifery training through the Rural Midwifery Program at Charles Sturt University in Wagga Wagga.

After living in Cambridge for four years, she returned to continue her career in Tamworth and then in Inverell until she started working with PTS in 2012 as one of our dedicated transport nurses.

Bonnie told us that she has really enjoyed her time in nursing and loves her current role.

‘Besides having seven years off to have my children, I have been nursing for 45 years. Being a nurse is all I ever wanted to do’.

Shane Wadwell, PTS Duty Manager, said ‘I feel so grateful to be able to call you a fellow employee of Patient Transport Service as a Registered Nurse. How much you have accomplished over the years is truly inspiring, and I’m delighted that you are a part of our team’.
