At 11am on Friday 28 May, staff took part in the first iThrive community event, Deskercise. The half hour desk-based Medibank sponsored workout is designed to increase energy, boost circulation and ease tension. It is also designed to decrease the effects of a sedentary lifestyle, provide a moving-break during the day and help to reinvigorate concentration.

HSNSW Communications and Engagement Advisor, Alyssa Faith, was one of many staff members to take part in her first Deskercise experience.

“If someone told me that you could do a workout at your desk that you'd feel the next day, I would have told them they were joking; I was definitely proved wrong,” says Alyssa.

“Featuring a number of Pilates-style moves, my heart rate was up and my arms and legs were burning throughout the Deskercise workout, and well into the next few days.”

In addition to live events, iThrive provides tips, resources, tools and activities to help you take charge of your health and wellbeing by designing your own fitness challenges, reading articles and watching motivational webinars and much more.

iThrive is provided by Virgin Pulse and can be accessed through the Virgin Pulse phone app or web browser.
