Partnering for patients

HealthShare NSW’s DeliverEASE team was honoured to receive the prestigious Health Innovation Award at this week’s 25th Annual NSW Health Awards 2023.

DeliverEASE is a major project within the NSW Health Procurement Reform program, focusing on modernising hospital supply processes from the dock through to ward storerooms, by improving stock management and visibility of medical consumables in NSW public hospitals.

The Health Innovation Award is an acknowledgement of the collective dedication and passion that the DeliverEASE team has poured into this innovative program.

“I'm thrilled to congratulate our Procurement and Supply Chain team, who were last night announced the winners of the Health Innovation Award at the 25th Annual NSW Health Awards 2023 for DeliverEASE,” said Carmen Rechbauer, Chief Executive, HealthShare NSW.

“This is a wonderful achievement and we’re all incredibly proud.”

Alex Araujo, Executive Director, Procurement and Supply Chain, HealthShare NSW, added: “I would also like to acknowledge the important contribution from our valued partners at eHealth NSW in achieving this success.

“Along with the ongoing support from our HealthShare NSW business partners, this award reinforces the idea that when we collaborate, partner and support one another, bringing our diverse skills and perspectives to the table, we can achieve outstanding results.”

DeliverEASE – transforming NSW Health hospitals

The 100-person-strong DeliverEASE team has worked closely with local health districts, hospitals and staff to customise the project to meet specific workflows and storage requirements of each ward storeroom and create custom AI-supported dashboards to track stock information.

To date, the DeliverEASE team has collaborated with more than 700 clinical areas across 35 hospitals, and they have trained thousands of staff. Importantly, DeliverEASE is supporting our clinical staff and returning valuable time back for patient care.

DeliverEASE combines a stock management framework and a fresh approach to stock processes and principles used by ward and dock staff. DeliverEASE also uses unique digital tools – including the StaffLink Requisitions and Receiving (STARR) mobile app - for scan-at-shelf Imprest ordering.

The NSW Health Award caps off an incredible year of achievement for the DeliverEASE team: In February, they received the HealthShare NSW 2022 Chief Executive Award for Collaboration; and more recently in August, they took home the prize for Best Collaborative Teamwork Project at this year’s CIPS ANZ Excellence in Procurement Awards.

“It is amazing to be the winner of this NSW Health award and I am honoured to be a part of the DeliverEASE team and achieve this success for HealthShare,” said Kim Senior, DeliverEASE Program Lead.

“We have a big team and get lots of support from our HealthShare business partners, who deserve to be recognised and congratulated for their contribution and the hard work we all do every day in supporting the wider health system!”

Marianne Camper, DeliverEASE Operations and Process Senior Manager, said she is extremely proud of the DeliverEASE team and the “amazing positive impact the program is having on frontline staff”.

“I am very humbled to receive this award,” said Marianne. “It is a testament to the dedicated and inspirational people who make up the DeliverEASE team, who work so collaboratively and in close partnership with Local Health District staff across NSW Health.”
