Cleaning Services

Clean, safe spaces for patients, staff and visitors.

Two cleaning staff members are standing in a bright indoor corridor. One person is holding a floor‑cleaning tool and wearing gloves, while the other is speaking with them. The corridor has polished flooring, open doorways, and several people walking in the background.

Protecting patients through sterile cleaning

We deliver specialised cleaning services to more than 9,500 beds across 105 sites, supporting sterile environments in wards, theatres, emergency departments, and public areas.

A clean hospital isn’t just about hygiene, it’s about care, dignity and safety. Our cleaning teams play a vital role in NSW Health public hospitals, creating environments where patients can heal, health staff can work confidently, and families feel safe. Often, they are the friendly faces patients see most, offering reassurance and helping each person feel looked after during their stay.

Our cleaning staff follow rigorous clinical protocols designed to minimise healthcare-associated infections, protect vulnerable patients, and ensure every space meets safety standards.

How we help

Our staff work around the clock to make sure hospitals stay clean, safe and ready for care.

HealthShare NSW’s cleaning staff:

Clean and disinfect patient rooms, clinical areas, operating theatres, and public spaces

Safely handle and dispose of clinical and general waste

Ensure clean linen is available and used linen is removed safely to support patient care and infection control

Follow strict infection control protocols and use personal protective equipment (PPE) appropriately

Support clinical teams by maintaining a clean healthcare environment

Every clean surface, every disinfected room, and every well-maintained space contributes to safer hospitals and better patient care.

Governed by NSW Health standards

As part of NSW Health, we understand the complexities of sterile environments and are governed by state policy directives and clinical requirements.

We work in partnership with:

We also use ISOPro Compliance Management System at more than 117 sites to track performance, monitor compliance and support continuous improvement.

Training, expertise and teamwork

Our cleaners are trained in infection control practices, safe chemical handling, proper PPE use and hospital cleaning standards. We place a strong focus on ongoing training, ensuring our teams have the skills and confidence to meet clinical requirements every time.

Cleaning staff work closely with nurses, infection control units and hospital management to ensure nothing is missed and every patient environment remains safe.

Smart, sustainable cleaning

We’re investing in safer, greener ways to keep hospitals clean:

eWater technology

Replaces harsh chemicals in hospital kitchens, cleaning hard surfaces and sanitising fruit and vegetables. With a hospital-grade cleaning solution made from water, salt and electricity, it’s economical, safe, and TGA-listed for COVID-19.

Microfibre cleaning

Reduces water use while improving hygiene results.

Modern equipment and digital auditing

Ensure efficiency, consistency and better clinical outcomes.

Cleaner hospitals mean safer patients, and a smaller environmental footprint.

Join our team

Our cleaners are essential to patient care. They learn how to support vulnerable people, work safely in clinical environments, and develop skills that stay with them for life.

Cleaning roles are also a great fit for people starting their careers, including students. With part-time opportunities available, it’s possible to study while making a meaningful difference to patients every day.
