Welcome to KidsCHEF!

KidsCHEF is a food service program curated for kids by HealthShare NSW and the Sydney Children's Hospitals Network.

It gives kids more choice, easier access and supports sustainability goals.

Tasty meals are available from a kid-friendly menu, and orders can be placed using TED (The Entertainment Device) or the CBORD Patient App, just like choosing a favourite show or game.

How to order patient meals

Patient meals can be ordered using TED (The Entertainment Device) or the CBORD Patient App.

Step 1: Get your information ready

You will need the Hospital Facility ID and your patient Area Unique Identifier (AUID) number ready to log in to the app.

Step 2: Download the CBORD patient app

Simple instructions below, for detailed instructions refer to the CBORD patient app instructions.

Create an account

Once you’ve downloaded the app, open the app and select ‘Create an Account’.

Follow the prompts. You will need to enter the patient’s date of birth (day, month, year), facility ID and AUID.

You can then enter your email address and a password to create a CBORD Patient account. You can then use the app to order meals for the rest of your child’s stay. You do not need to be at the hospital to access the app.

You can also place an order without creating an account. If you do not want to create an account, choose to skip this step by clicking ‘Skip’.

Step 3: Place an order

You are now ready to place an order. You can view all meals on the app and choose what you would like for each meal. Snacks will be provided along with your main meals, so please remember to add a snack to your meal order.

The menu offered for your child will be suitable for their dietary requirements. For some complex diets, Allied Health Assistants will assist in making the order.

Phone support is available from the State Wide Service Desk for patients who experience technical difficulties. Call 1300 28 55 33 for assistance.

Patients and carers requiring login assistance should select the following options:

  • Press # “If you do not have an employee number please press # now.”
  • Option 4 “for non-clinical issues or requests please press 4.”

Meal ordering FAQ

When do I need to order my meal?

The meal ordering cutoff times are:

  • Breakfast and morning tea: 6pm on the day prior
  • Lunch and afternoon tea: 9am on the day of service
  • Dinner and supper: 1:30pm on the day of service

Remember to select a snack when placing your meal order. It will be delivered on your main meal tray. Keep your snack aside to eat between meals. Put it in the ward fridge with your name on it if you need to keep it cool.

When will I receive my meal?

Meal windows for delivery are:

  • Breakfast and morning tea: 7am – 8:30am
  • Lunch and afternoon tea: 11:40am – 1:10pm
  • Dinner and supper: 4:35pm – 6:10pm
Who can place a meal order?

Patients aged 13 and older can order meals independently. Patients under 13 must have a parent or carer place the order.

What if I forget to place an order?

If you don’t place an order, a meal that is suitable to your child’s dietary needs will be provided.

Are meals available for parents or carers?

Carer meals are available for mothers of inpatients who are breastfeeding or expressing, or parents or carers of inpatients in isolation.

Talk to your nurse or Allied Health Assistant if you need a parent/carer meal.

Please note, carer meals follow a set menu and there are no selection options available.

Do I need to be at the hospital to place an order?

No, you can place orders from anywhere, including remotely and in advance, using the CBORD Patient App.

What do I order if I or my child has complex dietary requirements?

The menu offered for your child will be suitable for their dietary requirements. For some complex diets, Allied Health Assistants will assist in making the order.
