The Aboriginal Careers Talent Pool is a unique pool of candidates that are graduates of our Jobs to Careers Aboriginal Development Program, which provides high-performing and high-potential Aboriginal staff across HealthShare NSW with the opportunity to build their skills and take part in a range of development opportunities.

We asked Jeffrey and Luke how they both feel about joining the DeliverEASE program.

‘It was a bit nerve-wracking leaving a role that I had been in for five years, but the team has been so welcoming and it has been a really positive experience. It is a very rewarding project with clear benefits to both staff and patients which is important to me so I can connect what I do to the impact it has on others’ said Luke.

‘The transition to DeliverEASE has been enjoyable, along with adopting the challenges with taking on a new task portfolio. The onboarding process has been seamless. Despite the amount of content to learn, I am supported by the team and have access to the right resources and mentors. I have particularly enjoyed travelling to Health sites, meeting the wider DeliverEASE team and engaging my network. Seeing important project milestones through has been a highlight so far, and I look forward to seeing the impact on positive Health outcomes’ said Jeffrey.

The program presented an amazing opportunity to broaden Luke’s skillset.

‘I really enjoyed my experience with Jobs to Careers. It built my confidence while networking with other areas of the business. The study I completed as part of the program has been extremely beneficial to me and I expect to use the skills I learnt throughout my career.

‘Culturally the program provides a safe space to connect with other Indigenous staff and provides some insight into the work that both HealthShare NSW and NSW Health undertakes to support Indigenous staff.’

Jobs to Careers has been an amazing resource for Jeffrey’s personal and career development.

‘Early in the course, I learned a lot about myself culturally and psychologically. I took particular interest in learning about myself and Aboriginal culture, which led to important conversations around systemic cultural issues and racism. It was emotional at times. The course content enabled me to accept and acknowledge these stressors and reframe them into positive action.

‘I am incredibly proud of the Jobs to Careers Alumni as well as the Aboriginal Workforce Team. It’s a fantastic initiative. I am proud to be Aboriginal. I am proud to work for HealthShare NSW’.

Congratulations Jeffrey and Luke, wishing you all the best in your new roles.
