Information on salary packaging eligibility and fees.

Eligibility

To be eligible for salary packaging, you need to be permanent full time, permanent part-time or a temporary employee with a contract of at least three months duration.

If you are a casual employee you need to contact SalaryPackagingPLUS to discuss your eligibility.

Entry into the salary packaging scheme is voluntary. If you choose not to salary package you will continue to receive 100% of your salary in cash.

If you salary package, you can exit the scheme at any time if your circumstances change, subject to meeting the required period of notice and any payout obligations, e.g. under novated lease arrangements for a motor vehicle.

Current fees

An annual administration fee for implementing a salary package is shared equally by NSW Health and the employee. The fee is deducted before tax in the first packaging period but can be spread over the salary package period.

The fee structure effective from 1 April 2023 is as follows, with all fees quoted being GST exclusive:

  • For one salary packaging benefit item the fee is $23.50 per annum
  • For two or more salary packaging benefit items the fee is $33.50 per annum
